Robert Sedlak|World War II Army veteran

WATERBURY — Mr. Robert "Deech" Sedlak, 87, of Waterbury, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care Center at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Anna (Rocco) Sedlak. Robert was born in Middlebury on March 18, 1925, son of the late Andrew and Mary (Ward) Sedlak. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning a Good Conduct Medal, a European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and a Victory Medal. He was a paint mixologist for Scovill for many years before his retirement. He later worked as a custodian, most recently, for the Waterbury Contract Eyelets and Stamping Company. He was a hard worker and worked till the very end. He was an avid bingo player. Deech was very easy going, friendly and always willing to offer a helping hand. He leaves a son-in-law, Joseph Canapari of Waterbury; a granddaughter, Anna Canapari Demers and her husband, Raymond, of Thomaston; two great-grandchildren, Raymond Demers Jr. and David Boisvert; a brother, Edward Sedlak of Waterbury; and a sister, Ann Casale of Northfield. He was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Canapari, a brother, Andrew Sedlak, and his sister, Frances Capozzi. Arrangements: A funeral will be held 9 a.m. Friday from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow with full military honors in Calvary Cemetery.
