WATERBURY — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is coming to Waterbury on Monday to campaign for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Linda McMahon.
Christie and McMahon are scheduled to make a 3:30 p.m. appearance at Howland-Hughes Building at 140 Bank St. as part of a three-stop campaign swing through the state.
The McMahon campaign announced the Christie visit in an e-mail sent to McMahon supporters on Wednesday morning.
McMahon and Christie are scheduled to campaign first together at the Stamford Marriott in Stamford at 1:30 p.m.
After the Waterbury appearance, they will head to Glastonbury to rally with McMahon supporters at the Pond House Grille & Banquets at 5 p.m.
Christie is the second national Republican figure to come to Connecticut to stump for McMahon in her contest against U.S. Rep. Christopher Murphy this month.
Arizona Sen. John McCain campaigned with McMahon in Danbury and Norwalk on Oct. 4. He was the Republican Party's presidential candidate in 2008.
Christie assumed office as New Jersey's governor on Jan. 19, 2010, and he has since become a prominent Republican on the national scene. He delivered the keynote address to the Republican National Convention in August.
