Kohl's Department Stores has scheduled three, five-day job fairs across the state as part of an effort to hire nearly 400 workers in advance of the September openings of three new Connecticut stores, including one in New Milford.
The three new stores are scheduled to open in New Milford, Berlin and Killingly in late September, Sydney Hofer, the company's senior public relations coordinator, said Tuesday.
The job fairs will begin on Saturday and will be held daily through Wednesday, Aug. 8, at separate locations near each of the new stores. The job fair for the New Milford outlet will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott on 3 Eagle Road in Danbury.
The five-day job fair for the Berlin store will be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel, 100 Berlin Road, Route 72, in Cromwell, while the job fair for the new Killingly store will be held at Quinnebaug Valley Community College, 742 Upper Maple St., Danielson.
Kohl's is looking to fill about 125 jobs at each of the three new stores, Hofer said.
The 64.000-square-foot New Milford outlet is located in the 42-acre Litchfield Crossings retail center at 169 Danbury Road, Route 7.
The new Berlin store is located in the Brickyard Plaza on the corner of the Berlin Turnpike and Deming Road. The Killingly store is in the Killingly Plaza, at the intersection of North Main Street and Hartford Pike.
The three five-day fairs will be held at the following times at each location: Saturday, Aug. 4, from 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, Aug. 5, from 10:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Monday, Aug. 6, from 11:45 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Tuesday, Aug. 7, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Each store is looking to hire register operators, department associates, customer service associates, early morning freight unloaders and evening ad set associates, Hofer said.
Founded in 1962, Menomonee Falls, Wis.-based Kohl's operates 1,134 department stores in 49 states and employs about 136,000 people, 107,000 of which are part-time workers. The three new Connecticut stores, the first new outlets the company has opened in the state since the Waterbury store opened in late 2008, expands its presence in Connecticut to 21 stores.
