Edmond Joseph Kubeck|Tool and die maker

MERIDEN — Edmond Joseph "Kubush" Kubeck, son of the late Edmond and Dorothy (Lynch) Kubeck, and husband of 48 years to Kathleen McCarthy Kubeck, left this earth on Aug. 1, 2012, guided by his son, Keith. Ed was born on Sept. 2, 1942, and raised in Meriden, graduating from Platt High School in 1960. Upon graduating from high school, he attended CCSU before graduating first in his class from the three year tool and die program at Pratt and Whitney. As a young man, he was a member of the l69th Infantry Division of the Connecticut National Guard. Ed perfected his trade as a tool and die maker while employed by AGC in South Meriden, Hobson and Motzer in Wallingford and Siemens Medical Systems in Cheshire. He retired after 22 years as tool room foreman from the Marlin Firearms Company in North Haven. Not being one to fully retire, Ed happily worked part time for the past seven years at Connecticut Microwave in Cheshire. Ed was a gentle, even-tempered man, full of knowledge and wisdom. He could make or fix anything and everything. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his Jeepster. He took great pride in maintaining his house and garden. He wholeheartedly loved his children and wife and considered his family his greatest accomplishment. He adored his five grandchildren and marveled in their zest for life, taking great pleasure in all of their activities - from sports to plays to concerts. He taught his children and grandchildren how to problem solve and build and fix many things. Ed loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed his many family vacations to Aruba, Bermuda, and most especially Treasure Island, Fla. Ed was a parishioner of St. Bridget Church in Cheshire. Ed was truly blessed and much loved by many dear friends. In addition to his beloved wife, Kathleen, he leaves his loving family, daughter and son-in-law, Susanne and Joseph Vitcavage of Southington; son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Susan (Orzech) Kubeck of Bethlehem; and daughter-in-law, Stacy (Munzu) Kubeck of South Meriden. He is survived by his five grandchildren who adored him, Andrew and Edmond Vitcavage, and Jessica, Ryan and Kyle Kubeck, as well as his beloved dog, Gigi. Additionally, he is survived by his four nephews and godsons, Mark (and Loris) Simcik of Bloomfield, Luke Simcik of Santa Cruz, Calif., Paul Simcik of Southington, and Chris (and Nancy) Simcik of Cheshire. He also leaves his cousins, aunts and many beloved friends behind. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his adored son, Keith Edmond Kubeck, and his sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Jacob Simcik. The funeral will be held on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery. Friends may call at the John J.
