WATERTOWN -- The town has put out a request for proposals to repair the slate roof on Town Hall. The old Town Hall at 37 DeForest Street has had scaffolding over its front entrance for years to protect passers-by from falling slate. Town Manager Charles A. Frigon hopes that $38,000 approved for the project will be enough to allow the town to remove the scaffolding that mars the entrance to the historic building. “We'll see what money can buy,” he said. There will be a meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 9 at the old Town Hall to go over the scope of services required and for applicants to inspect the roof. Frigon said he is looking to see who can offer the town the most value for its dollar. Proposals are due Aug. 21.
